Eco Committee

Croeso! Welcome to our web page.

The Eco Schools programme is run by Keep Wales Tidy with the aim to inspire and empower pupils to be leaders of change in their communities and to develop responsible attitudes and commitment, both at home and in the wider community.  It encourages schools throughout Wales to play their part in this. We have been an Eco School for many years now, achieving first our Bronze Award, then our Silver Award and two Green Flag awards. This year, we are proud to announce that we have won our PLATINUM award!!! A huge well done to all those involved.

Our  Eco  Code:

  • As a school we are committed to learning about our global goals and how we impact our local environment and the world around us.

  • We will walk, scoot, and cycle to school as much as possible and use our WOW tracker to see how we are improving.

  • We have the opportunities to learn outside as much as possible and access our edible garden to plant fruit, vegetable and flowers, working as year groups to look after them until they are ready to be picked.

Our Eco Targets

Every Autumn term, the school does an environmental review for each area of Eco Schools to help us decide which areas we need to improve most.  Then we set our Eco targets for the year. This year our Eco targets are:

  • Learn about the Global Goals

  • Walk, cycle or scoot to school

  • Learn outside whenever possible

We have made an action plan to plan out how we will meet our targets.  The Eco Committee will be doing various lessons and activities in class and leading assemblies.

We are constantly adding new ideas and actions to our plan, so if you have any ideas, please let us know!

Green Day of Action

Earlier this year we all dressed up in green and had an Eco day to launch our targets.  The Eco Committee worked their socks off, taking a whole school assembly and teaching lessons in their own classes.  Everyone looked amazing in green and we had some really creative outfits!

Our Eco Committee

Our Eco Committee is made up of pupils from year 2 to year 6.  A new Eco Committee is elected every September.
